The colours used are very simple and straightforward: blue black and grey. They are plain dull colours, which seems to match with the rappers nvc. He looks depressed and heartbroken.
The title is large.
The main image is in a grey however there is a hand coming from behind him with a red in its hand. The heart is placed to his chest. That’s the only thing that’s in colour (red). This may be because he recently broke up with his girlfriend amber rose.
There is text boxes with page numbers, and the headings are in black whiles the rest are in grey.
On the bottom left hand side there is a small writing which may have info of the magazine and how to contact them.

The masthead is in bold centre of the page. A bit of the writing is covering the image.

The main image is on the right hand side, but with it theirs are sub-lines. Also the title ‘cover stories’ is in orange just like the model’s dress.

On the left hand side there are text boxes with page numbers. The main heading of the text boxes are also orange, reflecting back to the main image and the colour of the dress the model is wearing.

They’re other text columns and next to it there is an image of a cream.

They use simple colours white, orange and black, this may also lead to the fact of being in vogue magazine they’re looking for someone simple but yet interesting.

The title contents page is on the left hand side of the page.
There is a main image, with other images. The images are women playing basket ball. They are in the basketball kit. Their hair is tied back so it doesn’t get in the way when their playing.
The kit is free meaning they can be able to move around freely, its’ not tight and doesn’t restrict their movement.
The images have numbers on them and by the number there is a little information next to tell you a bit of theatrical you may read.
There are text boxes with numbers on them, with what you will be expecting in the magazine.

Contents page Analysing (1)

The context page has a title on the right hand corner, the way its written is going downwards. It also has a long shot of the two rapper, which is also a main image.
On the right middle corner there is a text box with page numbers and underneath that there is a regular category.
The two women are wearing dresses which show a bit of cleavage and are above their knees. It shows a sexual side but it isn’t reviling too much or to less.

Lighting: The lighting is high key as it portrays day time but also shows how she stands out in her career.
Setting: There is no setting, however the grey background connotes something simple but yet eye catching, and this is keeping with her personality, that she uses simple things but makes them stand out in a way you wouldn’t imagine. This is a medium long shot.
NVC: she looks sexual but has a strong facial expression
Body language: The fact that she is only wearing a pair of black jeans with spikes on the side suggest that even, though women are meant to be seen in a soft and sweet way she’s got a dark side.
The photo of lady gaga is cleverly placed as it stands out from the fonts used.  The photo is appealing mostly to male readers. The way she is standing with her hips to the side and covering her breast, suggest she’s reviling sex appeal but at the same time she’s also holding back.
Facial expressions: her face looks very serious and hard-core, on the other hand her makeup is very simple clear lip stick and a hint of blush, BUT her eye make up on contrasts very heavy and dark, once again the colour was black.
The headline ‘100 most shocking moments in the music’ instantly makes the reader want to find out lots more. The colour is very bright which draws the reader’s attention immediately.
Hand signals: Her right hand is covering her breast whiles her left hand is covering her private side. This shows her sexual and flirtatious side but also shows she respects her body as a woman.

Cover-lines: The main cover-line relates to her photograph ‘lady gaga has RISEN’. This connotes how she’s born, a new star is alive. Also in her last performance, she was in an egg shell, and when she came out of it, it was as if she is alive, she has risen. Most artists mentioned on the cover are all well-known artists. Sans serif font is used to make it easy for the readers to read.
Target audience: considering all of these points, it is likely that the audience would be male and female but, mostly male (age 18-35). They would have to be educated have a good knowledge in music and how it’s changed in the last 10 years, but, mostly be into the music industry.

Connotation: Zack and Vanessa are on the floor which seems to look like a swimming pool and they are lying on a beach ball. This is similar to high school musical 2 as it’s all about summer and having fun.  Leone Lewis ‘amazing makeover’ this connotes the change in her life as well as the makeover. After xfactor she has achieved her dreams and is now the person she always wanted to be.
Mise-en-scene
Costume: Zack and Vanessa are wearing colourful clothes. Vanessa is wearing a white dress which shows purity however the text underneath her says something else ‘Vanessa nude pic’. Zack in contrast was wearing a red top and blue jeans; the red is very colourful compared to Vanessa’s white dress.
Props- they are laying on a pink floating ball and the background is blue which represents water (swimming pool).
Lighting: high-key lighting.

Main Coverline

The front cover photograph shows rapper Lil Wayne at a high angle giving thumbs up to the camera.
He is dressed in a Black Baggy tee shirt which says, 'I AM HIP-HOP' Not only does the camera angle show authority but the text on his clothing also shows slight arrogance as well as dominance.
The layout of the front cover is not very busy and is quite spacious. He is wearing a cap and has dreadlocks and also a very smug look on his face. The title of the magazine is in white text in front of a red background.
The background colour is a sophisticated grey showing different tones and shades. The colour of the background brings out the boldness in the text and image. The text is all in block capitals and sans serif. Below his name shows the subtitle,’ Bites his tongue for no one.' This quote describing how he is not afraid to say how he feels linking to his gangster and hip hop persona.
Denotation: I see a man (rapper lil wayne) standing and wearing all black. His top says ‘I am hip-pop’ and on the top right hand side it says ‘XXL’.  Their two coverlines and a main coverline.
Connotation: The fact that his wearing black represents no emotions, black is a dark and lifeless. It’s a kind of ‘no mercy’ type of colour. He may be wearing this to show he has no time to play its stickily business. The top says ‘I  am hip-pop’, lil wayne is a rapper and during his 26 years of being in the game he has increased his fan based, popularity and his name for himself. He has being put in the Top 10 Biggest Hip-pop rapper. The name of the magazine ‘XXL’ may connote the fact that in most rap music there is quite a lot of swearwords. It may also mean very, very large …. So this may mean the only put big rappers in the game on their front cover of their magazine. The main coverline ‘Lil Wayne BITES GIS TONGE FOR NO ONE’ this connotes that lil Wayne says what’s on his mind, he speaks how he feels he doesn’t hind it.
Mise-en-scene
Costume: his not wearing nothing extravagant his simply wearing all black. This costume may have been chosen because rappers don’t normally dress up; they play it cool and keep it simple.
Setting: There is no setting however, the grey background represents simplicity, once again going back to the rapper rules, ‘play it cool’.
Lighting: the light is high key, but with simple colours; black and white it’s meant to be day time.
NVC : He looks like he know his the man, and he know what his doing. his very confident with him self.
Hand signals: His thumbs are pointing at himself who suggest his man.
Facial expression: His looking straight into the camera.
Body language: His standing up tall to show his status has growing.
The writing of the article font is in San Serif.
Masterhead- ‘XXL’ the master head is very distinctive white with red background. The font used is famous for clothes size and what people wear. Also XXL is very famous and long running magazine, they force on hip-pop because they are a large company they mostly put famous rapper on the front cover.
Target audience:  the target audience will mostly be male and a few females ages 16-50. They will have to be interested in rap and the hip-pop culture.
Coverlines- the main coverline relates to his photograph ‘lil wayne BITES HIS TONGE FOR NO ONE’. This is making a reference to his called ‘millionaire’. This music is very fast and controlling he says stuff that’s you wouldn’t want your young children hearing yet he does it because it’s what HE wants to say. There hardly anyone else featuring the magazine the only person mentioned was big poppa who is also a rapper.
